38th Word Cup 2, Tacen

Sorry for there being no news for a while but I haven't been able to update the website due to myself neglecting to renew my site hosting!

Having qualified in 36th place following a decidedly shaky qualification race I was looking forward to the semi-final, confident of putting down a good attacking run.

For those who haven't been to Tacen before it's a fairly tricky place to paddle, with the opening 15 seconds of your run taking in the big drop. Indeed, this is one of the few places where your run can literally be over by gate one!

Because of this I spent a lot of time working on the top drop during the course of the week, just trying to identify and find consistent lines which would then set me up for the rest of the run.

As a result, during the race I was generally very good on the top drop, and not so hot elsewhere. In fact, embarrassingly bad would probably be more accurate, but that's racing - you have to go hard, and sometimes you get it (very )wrong!

Next is Seu, a place I love, and the site of the Pre-World Championships.......
