4th and 8th Grandtully Prem Races

The last couple of races before Olympic selection took place in Grandtully, on the banks of the River Tay. For those that don't know, Grandtully is a wide, natural river, and as a result, is quite different to the narrow artificial courses on which most races nowadays are run. The event was well organised, running exactly to time, which, when combined with the water level being pretty much near perfect, made for a really good race.

I wasn't especially fast, but then again, 'tully is one of those places I have a love-hate relationship with. Love in as much as it's a really nice place to paddle, hate in as much as I never have a clue as to why I'm either fast or slow!

The racing itself on both days was very good, with me delivering 3/4 clean runs, along with some really nice, solid breakouts. Unfortunately for myself, it took until the 3rd run to realise why/where I was giving away so much time - on the crosses, for which 'tully is pretty much unique. Essentially, I either climbed too high, or didn't let my bows wash away soon enough.

With these three prems out of the way, my attention is now firmly focussed on Zoetermeer, and team selection!
