Good, but not quite good enough! Fourth place on the site that will host next years Olympic selection races is certainly a good start to the Winter, and next years Olympic preparations.
Given how difficult the course generally is, with it's steep gradient and continuous whitewater any course set is always going to be challenging. However, this weekends race course had a couple of surprises, in as much as some of the moves I'd never even considered.
My first run, whilst being on the pace was let down by two time penalties. One of these was a racing mistake, whilst the other was quite simply unforgiveable - I hit it (with my ear!) whilst exiting an upstream too tightly.
Given that I was well down after first runs, it needed a good second run to drag me back up the order. Fortunately, I was able to do so, going over 3 seconds quicker and staying clean in the process. Considering how far back I was after first runs I was more than happy to come back to 4th, although a medal would, of course, have been nice!
